How did the exhibition theme come up?
It springs from the political stalemate we are
facing all around the world nowadays. The
credibility of politicians is at its lowest point ever.
We are bearing witness to our language being
rendered vulgar and to a simplistic, polarising
dialectic. All this has resulted in the phenomenon
of political melancholy, as defined by Belgian
philosopher Lieven De Cauter, whose written
work has inspired the exhibition.
How is Samos connected to the exhibitions you
curate?
The island stands on a crucial geopolitical spot,
on the borders of Greece-Turkey and Europe-
Asia. The exhibitions we host at Art Space
Pythagorion refer to problematics related to the
island’s geographic location.
What is your goal being an exhibition curator?
My aim is to bring the public closer to art and to
promote its educational aspect. Being a curator
allows me to research how artists react to great
contemporary social, political, and financial
matters.

Πηγάζει από το πολιτικό αδιέξοδο που
βιώνουμε σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο σήμερα.
Η αξιοπιστία των πολιτικών βρίσκεται στο
χαμηλότερο σημείο που έχει υπάρξει ποτέ.
Είμαστε μάρτυρες μιας χυδαιοποίησης της
γλώσσας και απλοϊκών επιχειρημάτων.
Όλα αυτά έχουν επιφέρει το φαινόμενο της
πολιτικής μελαγχολίας, όπως το αποκαλεί
ο Βέλγος φιλόσοφος Lieven De Cauter, το
κείμενο του οποίου ενέπνευσε την έκθεση.
Πώς συνδέεται η Σάμος με τις εκθέσεις που
επιμελείστε;
Το νησί βρίσκεται σε ένα κομβικό γεωπολιτικό
σημείο, στα σύνορα Ελλάδας-Τουρκίας
αλλά και Ευρώπης-Ασίας. Οι εκθέσεις που
διοργανώνουμε στο Art Space Pythagorion
αναφέρονται σε προβληματικές που είναι
κοντά στη γεωγραφική θέση του νησιού.
Ποιος είναι ο σκοπός σας ως επιμελήτρια
εκθέσεων;
Να φέρω το κοινό πιο κοντά στην τέχνη
και να προάγω τον εκπαιδευτικό της ρόλο,
