1960. The Hollywood movie “The
Guns of Navarone” is filmed in
Rhodes. According to the local
newspapers, never had the island
known such an excitement since
Cleopatra and Caesar had spent
a weekend there. At first the
Antonis Pachos, republished from Rodos Confidential in, but they happily welcomed
Rhodians, who knew nothing about
the upcoming film, were terrified
seeing suddendly armed forces
bearing the Nazi insignia marching
their own D-Day, once the truth
was revealed. After that, Rhodes
will never be the same. 1960.
Τα χολιγουντιανά «Κανόνια του
Ναβαρόνε» γυρίζονται στη Ρόδο.
Οι εφημερίδες γράφουν ότι τέτοια
έξαψη είχε να δει το νησί από τότε
που βρέθηκαν εκεί η Κλεοπάτρα
με τον Καίσαρα. Οι ανυποψίαστοι
κάτοικοι αρχικά τρομοκρατούνται
βλέποντας στρατό με ναζιστικά
διακριτικά να προελαύνει, όμως μετά
υποδέχονται τη δική τους D-Day
με ενθουσιασμό. Μετά από αυτό η
Ρόδος δεν θα είναι ποτέ ξανά ίδια.
